In my efforts to succeed here at Emory, probably the thing that I have struggled with the most is finding a good study area, or a place in which I can concentrate without being distracted by outside noises. Living in a college dorm doesn't help at all. Although the buildings have a very unique design that includes a large amount of study lounges for students to use in order for them to succeed in there academics, the ones in my hall are always occupied by people socializing. When I tell this to people like my parents, they say "Well study at at the library." What they don't know is that it isn't as easy as they think. I personally think that the library is a very depressing place that deprives me of the outside world. When I am at the library, most of the time I feel bored or sleepy. It's dark interior colors and gloomy lights just serve as an anti-study motivator. This has made it extremely hard for me, because it leaves my dorm as the only option, but my dorm is so crowded and the people are so loud, that it is not even worth trying.
